Ukrainian president Volodyyr zelskkyy canceled his scheduled performances in Washington, DC, on Friday 28 February, following a heated Oval Office meeting with president Donald Trump And vice president JD Vance Stayed peace talks on the Russia-Ukraine war.
A white house reporter for Reuters Shared the news On X on Friday afternoon, and published, “@zelenskyyua has canceled his public events around DC where he was set to speak and take questions.”
The cleared schedule came after Trump finished his white house negotiations too early and interrupted a planned joint press conference with Zelenskyy, which was expected to happen after their closed door meeting.
After Zelenskyy left the White House, Trump commented on Debtakel on the truth socialAccuses the Ukrainian leader of not respecting him – a line that both Trump and Vance used earlier in the day – claiming that he “is not ready for peace if America is involved.”
In the meantime, Zelenskyy shared a simple thank you message after the meeting.
“Thank you America, thank you for your support, thank you for this visit. Thanks @potus, Congress and the American people, “he wrote on X.” Ukraine needs fair and lasting peace, and we work exactly for it. ”

Friday’s Oval Office meeting was intended to be an opportunity for Zelenskyy to meet the Trump administration at a critical time for Ukraine’s sovereignty. The plan was to sign a natural resource agreement and make progress when it comes to negotiating a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia.
Russia invaded Ukraine three years ago, in February 2022.

However, the visit was quickly transformed into a confrontation between the two fractions. Trump suggested that Zelenskyy may be responsible for triggering a third world war, and Vance accused the Ukrainian president of being “disrespectful” of talking politics over American journalists.
“Right now you are going around and forcing military service to the front lines because you have labor problems,” Vance told Zelenskyy during the tense conversation. “You should thank the president for trying to get into this conference.”
Zelenskyy then shouted the fact that Vance has never been in battle or even been in Ukraine.
“We try to solve a problem,” he shot back. “Don’t tell us what we will feel, because you are not able to dictate it.”

After the meeting, Zelenskyy spoke with French president Emmanuel MacronLike NATO Secretary -General Mark Rutte, Economic times Reports.
At the same time, European leaders spoke to express their support for Ukraine and its war leaders.
“Your dignity honors the Ukrainian people. Be strong, be brave, was fearless. You are never alone, dear President Zelenskyy, ”says Ursula von der Leyen, chairman of the European Commission, and António Costa, the chairman of the European Council, in a statement. “We will continue to work with you for a fair and lasting peace.”
Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre went a step further and directly criticized Trump’s “disappointing” behavior.
“That Trump accuses Zelenskyy of Games with World War II is deeply unreasonable and a statement I distract from,” he added in a statement about Facebook.
