A new pope has been chosen.
In the afternoon Thursday 8 May, White smoke from the Sistine Chapel’s chimney rolled in the sky and got waves of cheer on St. Peter’s square and signal to the world that the 267th Pope has been established.
The new pope will succeed late Pope Francis – But until he comes out on the balcony in St. Peter’s basilica to give his first blessing later today, we do not know who he is.
