University president struck down by graduation daughter in adorable video



Clemson University President Jim Clements witnessed the degree of a lifetime when his youngest daughter happily (and accidentally) beat him down while accepting her diploma.

On Thursday, May 8, the school saw the students enrolled in ClemsonLife program – A program for students with intellectual disabilities – go on stage.

When Grace Clements went up to graduate she served at South Carolina University, she jumped into her father’s arms, both overturned while they were still radiating with pride.

After the video went viral, Clements told Today“She went on stage and I met the peat. I wouldn’t change anything. It was pure joy.”

According to Clemson University’s WebsiteThe ClemsonLife program “prepares young men and women with intellectual disabilities for competition work and independent lives through a combination of academic courses and career exploration.”

It was designed to help “students who want a post-second experience on a college campus. Our program contains functional academics, independent housing, employment and social/leisure skills in a public university environment with the goal of producing self-sufficient young adults.”

In a statement to Todaysaid the university: “For all our Clemson students, graduation is a new beginning, and to see Grace embrace their father – our university president – embodied the moment of excitement that is felt by each of our 5,270 new Clemson -alums when they begin the next chapter in their lives.”
