After a man lost $ 5,000 in cash, police say he hung up “several times” when a troops were out to return the money because he thought it was a scam.

On Friday, April 26, a troops were on patrol and discovered the pile of cash in the middle of a road in Monroe, Michigan, according to a news message posted by Michigan State Police on X. Officials did not immediately respond to people’s request for comment.

The man was later identified as 26-year-old Donnie Hanson, a real estate agent, who was about to work when he saw the wallet on the ground, per outlet.

“I can’t believe this just lay in the middle of the road,” Hanson told Wxyz. “I just found ID, and I was like, you know what, yes, have to get this back.”

After returning the wallet, Johnson was filled with gratitude. The $ 100 cash was the tip money that her son, a college student, had done the day before.

“I almost cried. I know it sounds stupid, but it was nice,” she said of Hanson’s action of kindness.
