Pit Bulls saved from new home with ‘smell of stools, urine and rat’ so bad detective gagged

Two pit buns were rescued from their alleged neglect owner and her uninhabited home on Wednesday, February 19, according to a Sunday 23 February Suffolk County SPCA News notice.

Their owner, Stacy Zimmer, 48, was arrested in Brentwood, NY, February 19. She was accused of the cruelty of animals, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug equipment.

The authorities arrived at her home on February 19, where “the detectives found the home that the animals were limited inside had harmful air and smell of stools, urine and rat,” according to the news message.

The two dogs, named Princess and Koda, were found in “dirty areas with debris and stools.” There were hundreds of dead flies and buckets with urine, and the debris “disorder about the interior of the dwelling.” The ammonia smell was so “overwhelming” and “foul” that it got “investigator cough and gag while indoors.”

The authorities also recovered allegedly crack cocaine and drug equipment. “The home has been placed as inappropriate for human occupancy of the city of Smithtown Code Enforcement,” according to the news message. The home was on board.

Zimmer was booked and released from the Suffolk County Police Department’s third district. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Friday 7 March at the First District Court in Central Islip.

Princess and Koda will be available for adoption at Islip Animal Shelter.

A representative in Islip Animal Shelter said that Pit Bulls were not malnourished and only in need of care, per News 12.
