A motorcyclist receives medical care after a vehicle accident caused them to fall almost 100 meters from the road.
San Bernardino County Fire Protection District responded to a vehicle accident at 15:20 local time in Cajon Pass, California, about half a mile from Cleghorn Trail, wrote the fire brigade in a post At X., a motorcyclist who was involved in the crash had fallen about 100 meters down from the side of the road, and after causing moderate damage could not climb again.
The terrain and distance where the cyclist fell demanded “specialized” rescue efforts, said the post, including city search and rescue personnel, three fire trucks and two terrain response vehicles. A helicopter rescue was not possible, the post continued due to nearby power lines and tall winds at that time.

“Fire personnel quickly established a rescue system for rope with a mechanical advantage to safely raise the rider back up to the road, where emergency medical treatment continued,” said the post. “The patient was then transported by land ambulance to a local traumecenter.”
A video included in the post showed that a Gurney was sent down the slope via a rope system attached to the wheels on a vehicle on the road and returned with the motorcyclist.
SBCFPD did not immediately respond to people’s request for comment.

The use of the terrain’s response vehicle (inheritance) has “proven to be invaluable throughout the country in recent weeks”, the read. The vehicles have contributed to navigating in rough terrain, transporting supplies and sending patients to hospitals faster. Inheritance “have been crucial assets on calls where conventional vehicle access was limited or impossible,” the post was added.
The San Bernardino Fire Protection District then urged those who explore or cross places for tough terrain to “exert caution.”
