Joy Reid jokes that she has gone through a division ‘after the MSNBC output

Joy Reid have humor about her Recent exit From MSNBC.

While talking to Essen’s Black Women in Hollywood event on February 27, the broadcasting company, 56, made a not so subtle reference to the network’s decision to end its nightly news segment, Reidout.

“Good afternoon and welcome to Essen’s black women in Hollywood,” she began her speech. “Now I think you may have heard that I have recently gone through a division, but not with my husband!”

“Not with my husband, because today is actually our anniversary,” she added and noted that the couple celebrated 28 years of marriage that day.

The easier joke comes after MSNBC’s new President Rebecca Kulter announced that Reid would leave the network on February 24.

“Joy Reid leaves the network and we thank her for her countless contributions over the years,” Culter wrote in a memo sent to the staff. “Her work has been recognized with several estimated awards, including last, 2025 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding News Series.”

Reid also addressed the news in a statement that was shared to Bluesky and Instagram Shortly after midnight, before memo.

“I just want to say thanks to everyone who has reached kindness and encouragement, both personally and on these social media,” Reid said. “So very proud of Reidout @joy.msnbc.com team, which is really family and all our supporters and friends. See you tomorrow night at 7 o’clock, again. ”

Reidout Was an evening support at MSNBC since its inception in 2020 and saw the political commentator hold extensive interviews with politicians and other public figures.

During a behavior on Win with black women Podcast on February 24, Reid spoke her departure and admitted that she felt a wide range of emotions.

“I have gone through all the emotions from, you know, anger, rage, disappointment, injury, guilt, that I let my team lose their jobs,” she said, and became tear. “But in the end, where I really land … is just gratitude. Just pure gratitude. And gratitude not only for people to take the time to come up with a conversation like this or take care of me, but also that my show was value. ”

Reid also said that she had no regret about the news she chose to cover during her time at MSNBC, including the Black Lives Matter movement, hate crimes against Asian Americans and immigration.

“I’m not sorry. I’m not sorry I stood up for these things, ”she added.
