Jack The Ripper identified with DNA match, according to researchers seeking “closing”

One of the greatest serial murder of mysteries of all time – the identity of Jack the Ripper – has finally been resolved, according to a British scientist who is now seeking legal confirmation for an victim’s family.

Over a century after he murdered and limited London women in 1888, the long-mytologized murderer’s identity is alleged to be confirmed by DNA found on a shawl, said historian Russell Edwards.

Edwards claimed that Aaron Kosminski – a Polish barber who was 23 years old at the murder – is the ripper based on what he said is a 100% match with DNA found on the clothing, he told Today Australia In an interview February 1st. Kosminski was suspected in the original investigation, but was never arrested.

Edwards, which is the author of the book Naming jack the ripperHas long believed that Kosminski was the notorious London series order, a statement he first made a decade ago.

The historian confirmed that Kosminski’s DNA was at Eddowe’s shawl with the help of Doctor Jari Louhelainen, a university lecturer at Liverpool John Moores University, who isolated small segments of DNA from blood stains on the garment, per year CBS news.

The segments were then matched with a direct descendant to Eddowes, while DNA from sperm spots on the shawls was matched with a descendant to Kosminski.

Some people doubt Edward’s results, as the DNA certificate integrated into his claim has not been published in a Peer-reviewed scientific journal. Yet he – Together with 10 descendants of Eddowes “who all want closure” – seeks a legal recognition that Kosminski is the man responsible for her and the other victim’s murder, a long process they have already begun.

Part of this closure, said the historian, comes from seeing Kosminski’s name linked to the murders – not Jack the Ripper.

“Really what we want is to stop the name that is banished around,” he told today Australia, “because the name was actually created by an operating journalist and actually has nothing to do with the murder at all, but this is the name given to this killer.”

The historian also hopes to see “no more people who come with fake – I would say – suspects,” he told the outlet. “So we basically want to close the story.”
