“How I met your mother’s co -creator Craig Thomas announces debut novel (exclusive)

Craig Thomas brings a Hollywood story to the page.

People can exclusively reveal the cover of How I met your mom The co -creator’s debut novel, It wasn’t so it happened. The book will meet shelves this fall via Hanover Square Press.

The novel follows Paige, who inadvertently becomes a home mom when her husband Rob’s manuscript starts. After her children grow up, including her son Emmett, who has Down syndrome, Paige decides to write about the challenges of motherhood in a memoir.

When Paige’s book becomes a best seller, and a Hollywood producer wants to develop it for film, every family member sees the opportunity differently. Rob, worried about a comeback, sees the project as the way to get his career back on track. The couple’s daughter, Darcy, fears that the film will make her invisible within her family, especially when preparing for college. Finally, Emmett sees the movie as a chance to achieve two goals: Suggest for his girlfriend and meet his long Idol, Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder.

The Multi-Perspective novel follows each family member when they decide whether the new film will bring them close to each other or ultimately run them apart.

The novel, according to a statement shared with people, draws on Thomas’s experience raises his son Elliotwhich was born with Jacobsen -Syndrome. The rare genetic condition causes development and health challenges.

“I hope this novel will make people think and talk about how we think and talk about disabilities; about how our stories are told (and who can tell them); and about how love stories can come in many different forms and sizes,” said the Emmy-nominated writer in the statement.

Fans of How I met your momAs Thomas collaborated with Carter Bays, is also looking for a treatment, as the novel’s audio book will be partly told by role members Josh Radnor and Cobie Smulders.
