An officer is hailed as a hero after saving a pilot from a burning plane, which crashed into a field near a highway in Santa Barbara, Calif.
The small planet, a Cirrus SR22 that wore two people, crashed near Santa Barbara Municipal Airport about 14:15 local time on Wednesday, January 29, said Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in one statement.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) Shared on Facebook That one of its officers – identified as officer Ayala – witnessed the air accident while he performed a “traffic stop” on highway 101. CHP wrote that while the aircraft’s “parachute had distributed”, swallowed Flames “quickly wreckage.”
“Abandoned the stop, Officer Ayala competed to the stage, jumped a chain link fence and found that the injured pilot is creeping from the burning aircraft,” wrote CHP. “When fire spread, he pulled the pilot in security only moments before the plane exploded.”

Zick shared in the post that the crash site was “close to” Highway 101 “between Los Carneros and Storke,” and asked the public at that time to “Please avoid the area and make room to answer.”

The authorities noted that the passenger in the aircraft “managed to escape” and “two civilians” also helped get both the pilot and the passenger into security. CHP said that the pilot and passenger “were transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment.”
Zick split in a separate post on X that two people on board the “aircraft” were transported “to the hospital” with serious injuries. “She also said there were” no deaths on stage. ”
CHP praised Officer Ayala for his efforts to save the pilot before the aircraft broke out on fire and wrote that thanks to Ayala’s “courage and rapid action, life was saved that day.”
“Good job, officer Ayala!” CHP added. “Your mod exemplifies what it means to protect and serve your community.”
Faa said it will investigate the incident.
