Pearl is a special penguin.
The Animal life organization (Wwo) in Goolwa, Australia, found the little bird with white feathers from top-to-to 30 on March 30. Because of Penguin’s health, rescuers had some time to rejoice in her unique color.
Members of WWO found the “unusual” penguin (like the latter called Pearl) at Hayborough Beach, the organization announced at FacebookAnd noted that unfortunately the exciting moment was dampened because Pearl was found “fairly underweight and dehydrated.”
“We will certainly do our utmost to pull the little guy through,” reads WWO’s 30 March post. “The fingers crossed everyone.”
The Goolwa-based organization also wrote that “this is the first leucist penguin we have ever seen”, even for WWO veterans as pure Robinson-which told Australian broadcasting company (ABC) that during her decades of experience she has never seen a bird like Pearl.

In the same Facebook post, WWO also shared some information about Pearl’s rare and eye-catching color from Leucism-which differs from albinism, clarified it.
“A very hectic day today at the Wildlife Rescue Center. The most exciting and unusual animal that came in today was this strange little penguin,” WWO said. “Yes, this bird is white, or the correct term for this lack of color is leucistic.”
The organization explained that leucism “is a genetic peculiarity due to a recessive gene that gives the white color to fur or feathers.”
Herself, which gives Pearl her atypical appearance, “differs from albinism where the springs are pure white, and the eye has no color,” added wwo.
A few days after the wwo first took pearl in, the team revealed in a Facebook Update that they had named “Our Special Little Penguin”, which calls her pearl -inspired moniker “a beautiful name for a beautiful girl.”

As for her condition, the organization shared a clip of the bird and wrote: “She has a quick photography today to show you everything she is doing.” But, the wwo added, the penguin “is not out of the forest yet, so please don’t cross your fingers yet.”
WWO shared more about Pearl’s condition – and future – with ABC.
The adult woman weighed less than 1 kg (or about 2 kg) when the organization found her, per outlet. While Pearl himself is an unusual vision, it is not rare to find emaciated birds in the area this time of year, Robinson said.
Robinson told ABC that the organization is now feeding Pearl a special diet to help her gain weight and improve her condition overall. The bird also receives medication to prevent breathing fungal disease.
The WWO representative added that the organization will determine Pearl’s next move when she is healthier.
