Father of the woman, 22, shot in home invasion breaks down, praises tribute

The father of a 22-year-old woman who was shot dead during a suspected home invasion in South Carolina during the weekend praises her beloved daughter.

Logan Federico, from Waxhaw, NC, was discovered in the morning on Saturday, May 3, after she was killed in her chest while visiting friends at a rental home on Cypress Street.

The victim’s death has been ruled as a murder, said Richland County Coroner’s office under one press conference.

The police appointed the suspected shooter as Alexander Dickey, 30, at the conference and accused him of committing several thefts and burglaries around the time of Federico’s killing.

Dickey was alleged into a nearby house and stole several objects, including a firearm and the keys to a vehicle, CPD said during Monday’s press conference.

Police believe the suspect went into Federico’s room before he shot her and fled the stage in a stolen vehicle. He is believed to have made purchases with stolen credit and debit cards over Lexington County, before his stolen vehicles broke down, police say.

Officers worked hard to track Dickey, despite the severe weather conditions, and he was eventually taken into custody after another property was set on fire. The police extracted the suspect through a window, the authorities said.

Stephen Federico, who paid tribute to his beloved daughter at the press conference, said to reporters, “I am Logan Haleley Federico’s father, better known as ‘dad’ or her hero. Unfortunately that day I could not be her hero.”

“My daughter, I cared for. She was a strong, funny loving person who did what she wanted to do and was spicy,” he continued, leaving that Federico was a huge Taylor Swift fan.

“My daughter worked hard in school and worked two jobs to become a teacher. She loved and loved children, children of all ages,” he shared.
