Linebacker’s coach Michael Wilhoite has been fired from Denver Broncos After he was arrested and accused of other grades A police officer is alleged to punch on February 23.
One week after the news broke about the arrest, Bronco’s head coach Sean Payton Wilhoite’s future spoke with the team in a statement released on Wednesday, March 5.
“After thorough discussions as an organization, I met Michael Wilhoite and informed him that we have decided to share ways,” said Payton Per ESPNThe CBS news and Denver Post.
“We realize the serious nature of the charges against him and believe this is the best action right now,” he continued. “I appreciate Michael’s contribution to Broncos and am convinced that he will move on in a positive direction. ”

According to a report from the Denver Police Department obtained by People, Wilhoite, Broncos’ outside Linebacker’s coach had entered a change with a police officer at Denver International Airport after leaving his Ford Bronco without supervision in the airport’s departure area.
When a police officer, who was on a curb, informed Wilhoite that he could not leave his vehicle without supervision, Wilhoite, 38, told the official to “shut F—- up”, according to the police report. The second time the official warned of the vehicle, Wilhoite repeated the statement and “bumped on the chest” into the official, according to police.

When the official “shot” Wilhoite away from him, Wilhoite replied by allegedly punching the official who fell to the ground. The coach then went on to enter his vehicle, which was when the police used his Taser at Wilhoite for five seconds, before driving away, according to the report.
Following the news of his arrest, the team issued a statement to 9NEWSsays: “We are aware of a situation involving Michael Wilhoite who occurred on Sunday and is gathering more information.”
Payton was also asked about Wilhoites’ arrest at a scouting combine last week, and he told reporters that Broncos had been in contact with law enforcement officials and NFL during the incident and team Per ESPN. Payton added that the team would follow “proper protocols and channels” “when it came to making a decision on Wilhoite’s future with the team.
Wilhoite has been released on Bond and will show up in court on March 10 Per Denver County Court.
The assistant coach, who comes from Kansas, joined Broncos two years ago, according to The team’s website.
For five of their six years as Linebacker in the NFL, Wilhoite played for San Francisco 49ers. Before coming to Broncos, Wilhoite served as Linebacker’s coach for the LA chargers from 2021-2022.
