Backstreet Boy Aj McLean apologizes for the band’s fashion, regret “a really bad look”

AJ McLean Have made some questionable fashion elections in their time as a boy band. Now he looks back with regrets on a special.

In the CW documentary 90’s boy band BoomThe Backstreet Boys The member looks back on some of the different chances they took on style when they get ready for special events.

“You can see when we had a stylist and when we didn’t have a stylist. You can say when we are left for our own passing or we had someone who helped to guide us, “he says with a laugh.” I am sorry for many choices we made. ”

For McLean, the worst perpetrator was “a really bad look” he revealed for their first trip to Grammys in 1999.

“The four fellows were in darker, really nice suits, and I look like a washed wizard. I was in everything white with a white top hat, the stupidest facial hair I ever came to,” he remembers.

In his own defense he adds, “but all these appearance is back with revenge.”

Backstreet Boys is not the only boy band in the documentary with memories from bad styling. Drew Lachey and Justin Jeffre of 98 degrees admit that they also “try to block our fashion elections.”

“Let’s be real, they were not really choice,” says Lachey. “We were in such a whirlwind. You came to a photoshoot and you put pretty much on what’s there.”

The band went through a large shirt -free era, even though the couple says they were mostly Outliers.

“Justin and I pretty much always kept shirts on, I think most of the time. Nick and Jeff, they were … Yes,” says Lachey laughing.

“If you look at the first record on the cover, we wear our flannel and our jeans and that is kind of what we were wearing when we first moved out to LA,” explains Justin. “We wanted to be faithful to ourselves, but we realized that we didn’t know how to dress.”
