Alabama -teacher accused of rape after allegations involving boy, 12

A teacher in Alabama Middle School is facing several charges after being accused of raping a pupil in high school.

Officers with the Opelika Police Department arrested 47-year-old Jill Campbell on April 24, according to a news message from the agency.

Her arrest came after detective began to investigate a young man’s claim that he had an “inappropriate sexual relationship” eight years before, according to police.

In documents obtained by people, the complaint states that this “inappropriate sexual relationship” began when the alleged victim was 12 years old.

Detective with the OPD said in their release that “the victim reported that the documents occurred when they were in 7th and 8th grade and went to Opelika Middle School.”

The two -week investigation of detective in the charges “revealed evidence that confirmed the victim’s statement,” adds release.

Campbell, whose information shows that she has been a teacher at Opelika Middle School for over 20 years, has now been placed on administrative leave pending the result of the investigation

The police said that the school “is fully cooperating with the investigation” right now, while Opelika City Schools confirmed in a statement that Campbell is in administrative leave.

OCS refused to comment further on the issue and quoted the ongoing investigation.

The OPD also said that it was the superintendent of OCS that warned law enforcement to this alleged crime after talking to a parent earlier this month.

Campbell has been accused of rape and sodomy in the second degree. She is out at $ 35,000 bail and returns in court on May 7.
