3 children abandoned in dirty michigan home, mom arrested: police



A mother Michigan has been arrested after abandoning her three children in “Absolute Squalor” for several years.

Police found a 15-year-old boy and his two sisters, 12 and 13 years during a welfare check at a home in the 600 quarter of Lane Lane in Pontiac on Friday 14 February, Oakland County Sheriff’s Office announced in a press release.

“They had dirty clothes, their hair was slowed and their toenails were several inches long, which made it difficult to walk,” said the sheriff’s office. “… it seemed as if the girls had not been outside the home in several years. The boy slept on a mattress on the floor while the girls slept on pizza boxes. ”

Per police were arrested their 34-year-old mother without incident on the same day and held in prison in the Oakland County.

The authorities were called to the landlord after not seeing the mother since December. The landlord added that the last rent paid at home was in October 2024.

The police said they found the home “in regrettable form” with debris “stacked as high as four meters” in some rooms and “mold and human waste were found throughout, with the toilet crowded and stool in the bathtub.”

The boy told the authorities that he and his sisters had lived alone in the home since 2020 or 2021. The children had not gone to school since they were abandoned.

“They survived on the prepared food that their mother or stranger would leave on the porch every week,” noted the sheriff’s office in their statement. “The mother did not leave toilet paper or personal hygiene articles. The mother had contact with the boy, but it seemed as if she had not seen the girls in several years. ”

The children were transported to a hospital for evaluation before they were placed in the custody of a relative through child protection services. The mother told the authorities that the children’s father was not in their lives.

Neighbor Emma Gross told Wxyz-TV Detroit“Everyone is upset about this … This is right in our area, how can something similar happen?”

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard also noted, “During my extensive career in this area, I have never encountered a scenario as horrible and extended as this one, with abandonment, neglect and abuse of the highest order.”
