A man remains missing after a woman was rescued from a boat accident in Iowa.
The authorities warned of the incident after two people were “thrown off the boat as they operated” on des Moines River close to 310 Street in Edyville about 9:50 local time on Sunday 25 May, Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) stated in a drop On Facebook.
Deputies could find 50-year-old Iowa resident Roseanne Benda and safely saved her from the river with the help of two citizens boating, according to the publication.
A 47-year-old man identified as Wayon Straube in Eddyville is still missing.
“First respondents from several public security agencies spent the next 10 plus the hours searching in des Moines River from 310th Street to Edvyville for the adult male thrown from this boat,” McSo said in the release.
The search for Starube was canceled on Sunday evening due to the approaching darkness before resuming early on Monday morning.
MCSO works with multiple local agencies in the search, including the Lowa Department of Natural Resources, Oskaoosa Fire Department, New Sharon Fire Department, Eddyville Fire Department, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Mahaska County Emergency Management Agency and MAHAKA COUNTY AND MAHAKA COUNTITY.
Bureau uses boats and drones in their search and focus on an area under Bussey Bridge, where they think Straube went overboard, Local 5 news reported. Straube reportedly did not have a life jacket at the accident, according to the outlet.
It is believed that the boat may have met some underwater concrete before the couple was thrown out, said Mahaska County sheriff Russ van Renterghem Who 13.
