A woman was killed in an explosion after a bomb that she is alleged to carry went in her hands in Greece.
The 38-year-old woman transported a bomb outside a bank in the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki when it detonated and killed her around 05:00 Local time on Saturday, May 3, Local newspaper EkatimeriniThe Associated Press and Reutants reported.
She is believed to have tried to plant the bomb outside the bank before it detonated prematurely in a parking lot next to the bank branch, at the intersection of Platonos and Agios Dimitriou, according to reports.
The woman was rushed to iPPocratio hospital, where she died of her injuries, per Ekatimerini.
“It seems she was carrying an explosive unit and planned to plant it at a bank’s ATM. Something went wrong and exploded in her hands,” a higher police officer told Reuters.

Photos from the blast show several stores and vehicles damaged from the impact, with the windows that blew off.
The victim had a criminal register and is believed to be part of a circle closely bound to an “anti-autoritarian figure” who is currently in prison for bank robbery and bombings, Ekatimerini reported, with reference to police and the Ministry of Citizens’ Protection.

In February 2024, the same group was claimed to be a package bomb to Thessaloniki -appeal court. The incident remains during the investigation of anti -terrorism officials, according to the outlet.
The woman was previously arrested with the same anti-autoritarian figure and imprisoned over a bank robbery after she was found “with a Kalashnikov rifle in a backpack,” per Ekatimerini.
The directorate for organized crime investigates the incident, reported the outlet.
