Woman Famous by Martha Stewart After creating boot camp for DIY projects (exclusive)

Klea Turner turned to a proven source for DIY design inspiration after moving into her new home: Martha Stewart.

After receiving the keys to their new excavations, Turner26, wanted to find ways to make it their own without breaking the bank. One of the first things she did was sew curtains for her kitchen and front door.

She decided to film the process and create voiceovers on Tiktok and dubbed the series “Martha Stewart Boot Camp.” Turner publishes extracts from her daily projects around the house as she works to make the space feel like a home. Turner talked exclusively to people about the renovations and where her inspiration comes from.

“Martha Stewart has always inspired me, and I’ve always seen her since I was little, and my mom and I have always decorated projects around the house,” she says. “This is the first house I have ever owned, and having my own place to live opened the whole new world and produced the new creativity I didn’t know I had.”

Once, Turner and her husband bought their house in Layton, Utah, the reality they would need to furnish and decorate it. For Turner, it has been a “fun” challenge to try to find out how to do everything she wants on a budget, which includes lots of thrift and purchases of used furniture from Facebook Marketplace.

She says to take it bit by bit and learn “the little things you do every day make a huge difference” has helped her stay on the right track.

“Sometimes you look at your house and think, ‘I want my whole kitchen to be different, and I want a whole new living room, and I want all the new decor.’ Then you start researching things and think, “It’s overwhelming, it’s expensive, it’s a lot,” she explains. “I went and bought a pot and some faux flowers to put it on my table, and it changed my entire house.”

“The biggest thing I’ve learned is that the little things you do can make a big difference. You don’t have to renovate the entire kitchen, but you can only add some elements on yourself on the road.”

Turner says that one of the most surprising things about the series is the feeling of “scam” after she has completed each project.

“I am a mother, so I have told myself that I do not have much time to do the things I always loved, such as home decor, host, DIY and gardening,” she explains. “But I realize how much I love it and how much it brings me joy outside of motherhood.”

“I feel that the biggest thing that surprised me is that it gives lots of intention into my home, like everything I have done, as if I have done a craft for my home, or I have done something in my garden, or something similar that it feels like a piece of me in my house, and it feels very thoughtful,” she adds.

Turner has shared his boot camp online, and her first video Went viral and collected over 1 million views. Stewart himself commented: “We will be here all summer.”

Turner says the answer has been “fun” but “surprisingly.” She loves that everyone has “many opinions when it comes to home decor” and “their own unique individual style.” She also appreciates how much her audience has taught her when it comes to design.

“There is this whole community that has been out all the time that I didn’t even know,” she says. “I don’t know much about gardening, and that’s half the reason I started this series was because I wanted to learn things myself, and I will ask for advice, and people will give good advice, and I have learned so much.”

While Stewart inspired the series, Turner says that much of her creativity comes from her mother. As fans of the TV series Surprise of designWhen she was younger, Turner and her mother would go to Home Depot, pick out color and decor and surprise Turner’s dad by redoing a room.

“I’ve always wanted to do it. Now that I have my own house I can do it and it has been so liberating and so fun. Every day I call my mom and ask:” What do you think about this pink color? “” She says.

“We are very close and she always has such good ideas. She is my greatest inspiration. She is my actual Martha in real life.”

When it comes to the future of her “Martha Stewart Boot Camp” series, Turner says “the possibilities are endless.”

“I think we will do it during the summer and just see where it takes us and how the house changes during the summer.” She would also like to involve her very practical husband in the process.

For those who want to get more involved in house projects, Turner emphasizes that “you don’t really have to spend a lot of money or be this revolutionary person” to create a beautiful space.

“I do normal, regular projects around my house,” shares the homeowner. “If you just spend some time and intention, make it such a fun space to put it in your home, and it gives a lot of fun for your life.”
