Why Michelle Monaghan was “worried” to become blonde for “The White Lotus” (exclusively)

Michelle Monaghan opens up to go blonde for The white lotus – And the big feats it took to maintain her glam -look.

Talk to people for their whole new partnership with U Beauty revealed the actress, 48, that she was actually nervous to go from her naturally dark brunette look to a Glamorous blonde when The white lotus Creator Mike White asked her to do it.

“I’m a dark brunette. And I knew Mike really wanted me to be blonde. And I was like,” Of course I will do what you want. “But I was worried because I knew I would have to go back to being a brunette for a movie afterwards.

Fortunately, Monaghan revealed that Celebrity Colorist Tracey Cunningham took several trips to Thailand, as the anthology series filmed to maintain Monaghan’s color throughout the production.

“I don’t know what we would have done there,” she says of Cunningham. “… we were really grateful that my hair actually, even though it was treated so heavy, maintained its health. And when I had to go brunette, I went back. She took me back (to Brown) and it is still very healthy.”

On Season 3 of Hit HBO series, Monaghan plays a TV star named Jaclyn on a girl trip with his long -lasting friends Leslie Bibb and Carrie Coon At the fictional White Lotus Resort in Thailand – and the actress jokes that “it is very Jaclyn” to get a stylist to fly all the way from the United States to Asia just to make your hair.

“It was so fun to be Jaclyn, because Jaclyn is such a deviation from me specifically when it comes to appearance. She likes the makeup, she likes the pink tan, she likes the blonde hair. It is done. She does herself. And then it was just a really very fun role, to live.”

According to the actress, the show’s hair department was also responsible for giving her blonde locks that really made it look like she was on a tropical holiday.

“We made a choice early in the first few days (that) it would be the first episodes that she would really make an effort with her hair,” reveals Monaghan and gives some insight into her character. “So her hair is the most kind of done, I think she carries it up and it’s kind of extensive and stuff. And then we decided when she starts to get a little bored at the detox, she just starts rocking the natural structure.”

“We just let it get a little dirty,” she jokes. “It follows her journey. So she was a little less polished.”

Monaghan has been sincere about the intense beauty routine that made her look as glamorous as a TV star as the fictional Jaclyn Might. Talk to people at a recent New York City event celebrating her as U Beauty’s first brand ambassador everShe revealed that she was also self -brown every week.

“I’ve undertaken it every Sunday,” she tells people. “So everyone is like,” we’ll go down to the beach and for a dip. “And I was like,” I can’t do it. “Instead I was put on the self -well and wait for it to dry for six or seven hours Because it was so moist. ”

“And it became this ongoing joke that they just knew. They are like, ‘Oh, don’t worry about asking Michelle. She makes her tan,'” she continues, joking that it was another way to help her get into character.

“But once I put it tan and then the blonde hair and I felt that I was inhabited a very specific character,” she adds. “And then she wore a very light pink coral nagel varnish that we would have to do once a week or two.”
