Richard Dreyfuss, who played the lead role as the eccentric biologist Matt Hooper, rose to fame with the help of Jaws in the 1970s. He continued to work with Spielberg in the film in 1977 Close to meetings with the third battle.

Steven Spielberg, who directed the film, was a household name after Jaws became a smash -hit in the summer of 1975. From there he continued with more blockbuster, including Et the extra terribly rich (1982), The Indiana Jones Trilogy (1981-1989), The color purple (1985), Law Park (1993), Save private ryan (1998), Catch me if you can (2002), War horse (2011) and West Side Story (2021), among many others.

Roy Scheider, who played heroic police chief Martin Brody, died on February 10, 2008.

In 2004, Scheider was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, but he died of a Staph infection in February 2008. He was 75 years old.

Robert Shaw, who played Shark Hunter Quint, died August 28, 1978 – three years after Jaws premiere.

In addition to his leading role in JawsShaw also appeared in Sting (1973), From Russia with love (1963), The take of pelham one two three (1974) and Robin and Marian (1976). He was nominated for an Oscar Prize and a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Henry VIII in the movie 1966, A man for all seasons.

Shaw was the father of ten children before his death. He had four daughters with his ex-wife Jennifer Bourke, whom he was married from 1952 to 1963. He later married actress Mary Ure in 1963 and adopted her son. The couple also continued to welcome more children. Shaw later married Virginia Jansen in 1976 and he adopted her son and welcomed a son under their relationship.

Shaw died of a heart attack on August 28, 1978. He was 51 years old at his death.

Lorraine Gary like Ellen Brody

Lorraine Gary, who played the police chief’s wife Ellen Brody, retired shortly after Jaws. She went on to act in the film in 1976 Car wash and the Spielberg-directed film in 1979 1941.

Gary retired from acting in 1979 – except that it briefly repaired Ellen’s role in the film 1987 Jaws: Revenge.

She married Sidney “Sid” Sheinberg, head of Universal Pictures, in August 1956. The couple shares two sons, Jonathan J. and William David.

Murray Hamilton, who played Mayor Larry Vaughn, died on September 1, 1986.

Hamilton, who was a stage actor before he recorded JawsContinued to work with Spielberg. He acted in the sequel Jaws 2 1978 and worked with Gary and Spielberg in 1941. He was also set to start in Jaws: revenge, But he died before filming began.

In 1953, Hamilton married Terri Demarco, who sang in the famous group The Demarco Sisters. The two shared a son, David.

Hamilton died of lung cancer on September 1, 1986. He was 63 years old.

Carl Gottlieb, who together wrote the script and acted as Harry Meadows, continued a career in entertainment by writing, directing and acting in several films after Jaws.

Susan Jane Backlinie, who played the first shark attack victim, Chrissie Watkins, died on May 11, 2024.

In addition to being an actress, Backlinie was also a successful stunt woman. She worked with Spielberg and some of her other costs in 1941 and continued to act Animal Day (1977), The great muppet the hijacker (1981) and Terror in the corridors (1984).

Backlinie died of a heart attack on May 11, 2024. She was 77 years old and survived by her daughter, yours.

Jeffrey Kramer, who played Vice Leonard Hendricks, got his start in the actor with Jaws and Jaws 2. He continued to act and had roles in Hollywood Boulevard (1976), Halloween II (1981) and ‘Burbs (1989).

Although Kramer acted in several films, he turned his focus on producing television programs in the 1990s. He worked as a producer on Chicago Hope (1994), The exercise (1997-1999) and Armed and famous (2007).

Lee Fierro, who played worried mom Kintner, died on April 5, 2020.

Before Jaws Fierro was filmed at Martha’s vineyard and had already established itself as a local. After playing in the film, she continued to live on the island and mentoring over a thousand young actors as artistic director of the Island Theater Workshop from 1974 to 2017.

Fierro had four children with his first husband, actor Marvin Stephens. After they divorced, she married Bernard Fierro, and they had another child.

On April 5, 2020, Fierro died after contracting Covid-19. She was 91 years old.

Peter Benchley

Peter Benchley wrote the 1974 novel Jaws, which was adapted to the film. He also collaborated with Gottlieb to also write the script and also acted as a journalist in the film.

After the success of JawsBenchley continued to write and produced Depth (1976)The island (1979)Beast (1991) and White shark (1994).

Benchley died on February 11, 2006 of lung fibrosis. He was 65 years old.
