Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills previously said that Jones and Wilson had checked in at a hotel near the lake for its 50th birthday that Saturday, NBC Affiliate WXIA-TV reported.

The woman had air in her lungs when found, which sills said that probably her body float rather than sink, according to WXIA TV.

“I’m not saying she didn’t drown, it’s up to the medical examiner, who has not completed her report,” Sills explained. “But it was enough to prevent her from going all the way to the bottom.”

Wilson’s body was found half a mile away from where the authorities found 12-foot boat on the lake Oconee, according to a previous WXIA TV report.

Sills told WSB-TV that there is “no evidence that that boat was struck by another boat” or “by the boat crashing in something.”

Since Jones has not been found, Sills told the station that he “must approach this as if this were a criminal issue of some kind”, but noted that this may be the case with unintentional drowning.

On Friday, February 14, Sills said that “the circumstances of this case indicate that it is not just a simple drowning”, according to WXIA TV.

Emergency Dive Response Team, a non -profit organization, helps to search for Jones. Cajun -Marinen, a voluntary search and rescue group in Louisiana, will also help, CBS AFFILIATE WMAZ reported.

“We will not end until we find him,” said Richard Picking, a team leader with Emergency Dive Response team, according to WMAZ.
