Walkers discover human burnt body at the Georgia Mountain

A hiker came across the burnt remnants of a man on top of a mountain in Georgia this weekend.

On Saturday, May 31, about 8:18 local time, a park visitors walking at Stone Mountain Park, located outside Atlanta, called Stone Mountain Park Park and told the authorities that he discovered a “burnt” body under stones and an overhang, Stone Mountain Park Department of Public Safety Talesman John Bankhet told WSB-TVFox affiliate Weight TV and Atlanta News first.

Responding officers, who “felt an area to look for,” then found the body “burned hard,” Bankhead Atlanta News first.

He added, according to Associated PressThat the body seemed to be a white adult man who was probably in the 20th or 30s.

Bankhead talked about where the body was found and said, “It is in an area that visitors usually do not go to.”

“You can see just behind me, it’s under some trees. It’s not in a popular area for visitors,” he added.

With regard to the 911 call, Bankhead said that the man did not leave a name or number for the authorities to contact him after he warned the police about the body.

“We are lucky enough for the individual to discover the body. We would like to talk to him if he would call Park Police,” spokesman said.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) leads the death investigation, while the body has been sent to the Dekalb County Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy, per multiple stores.

When he reached information, a spokesman for GBI directed people to Stone Mountain Park Police, who did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Sunday, June 1st.

Bankhead told us Weight TV of the area where the body was found, “someone had stacked up stones in front of the overhang to make it very private.”

Despite the situation, the “family -oriented park” itself “is very safe,” Bankhead Atlanta News told us first.

He called the discovery of the dead body “very rare” for the tourist destinations, which are about 15 miles from central Atlanta and has a carpet of three confederate leaders: Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson.

“This is the first time, according to my knowledge, that something similar has happened and found a body on top of the mountain,” he said. “We have found bodies (of people) that have jumped and committed suicide. But nothing like this. This is very unusual. Very rare. I don’t know if this has ever happened here.”

“When more arrives, I think we find out that it is a very odd situation. Very odd situation,” Bankhead continued.

The park’s spokesman also told WSB-TV that while operations “are conducted as usual right now,” things “can change depending on the situation.”

David Farmer, a college student who has walked the mountain several times, told Waga that he had also “never seen anything like” in the area.

“I’ve been here a lot and never seen anything like it,” Farmer said. “It’s a little scary and it’s a bit gloomy.”

Fellow Park visitor Emalyn Delgado added that she visits the area to “have fun and be in the park”, tells WSB TV that the discovery is “crazy”.
