Trump signs executive order that extends TikTok time deadline to find non-Chinese buyers

Washington DC – President Donald Trump Announced Thursday that he had given social media platform Tiktok Additional 90 days to find a non-Chinese buyer or prohibited in the United States.

“I just signed the executive order Extended Deadline for TikTok closure for 90 days (September 17, 2025), “Trump published on his truth social platform and officially dismissed the ban on Third time.

A federal law that required TikTok’s sale or ban on national security bases would come into force the day before Trump’s inauguration of January.

The Republican, whose election campaign 2024 relied strongly on social media, has previously said that he is fond of the video sharing app.

Tiktok welcomed on Thursday Trump’s decision.

“We are grateful to President Trump’s leadership and support to ensure that TikTok continues to be available to more than 170 million American users,” the platform said in a statement.

In April, Trump said that China would have agreed to an agreement on the sale of Tiktok if it wasn’t for a dispute over his customs at Beijing.

Bytadance has confirmed talks with the US government and says that important issues needed to be resolved and that each business would be “subject to approval under Chinese law.”

Possible solutions are reportedly included in seeing existing US investors in Bythadance role over their efforts to a new independent global TikTok company.

Additional US investors, including Oracle and the Private Equity company Blackstone, would be brought on board to reduce the exchange share in the new Tiktok.

Much of Tiktok’s American activity is already housed on Oracle servers, and the company’s chairman, Larry Ellison, is a long -term Trump ally.

Uncertainty remains, especially about what would happen to Tiktok’s valuable algorithm.
