A man says his sister wants to name his child after his late pet – a Golden Retriever called “Max” – but he urges her not to.
In a post that is shared to RedditThe anonymous 31-year-old man explained that Max died last year.
“He was with me through my divorce, our mother’s death,” he wrote. “I had him for seven years and he honestly got me through the darkest time in my life. When he died, I was destroyed. I even got his Tagryck tattooed on my arm.”
Now the man’s younger sister is pregnant and has a specific name in mind for his son.
“She recently told me that she and her husband have decided on the name ‘Maxwell’ for their son,” Redditor continued. “I assumed it was after her husband’s grandfather or something, but no – she said it is” inspired “by my dog.” He meant so much to you, I thought it would be cute. “

While the man originally believed that his sister, 29, joked, he soon realized that she was not, and “told her it was strange and kind of rough to name a human child after a dog.”
“She was super offended and said I was possessing and strangely obsessive about a pet. I told her she can name her child what she wants, but I don’t have to pretend it is not bizarre and insensitive,” he added, he
Now the sister has stopped talking to him, while their dad said he should take the whole thing as a compliment.
“My friends are divided – some say it’s moving, others say it’s scary,” he continued.

He ended the post with an important warning: that his sister was “directly responsible” for the injury that led to Max Death.
“A few months before he left, I had to leave the city and she agreed to look at him. While she was out walking him, she forget To close the gate, and Max ran out on the street and was hit by a car, “he explained.” He survived, but he was never the same after that. He struggled with health problems for months before he finally went. ”

The man also claimed that the sister “did not even as Max when he was alive. She always complained about how much he lost, how he was a trouble and never once showed him the love or care he deserved. ”
Some Reddit users say that the situation is strange, mostly because the sister tries to celebrate a band shared by someone other than herself.
“It’s no wonder to name dogs and people in succession, but it’s strange to do it with someone else’s special dog as you are strange to try to celebrate when the person said they don’t like it,” wrote a commentator.
Still, others think the gesture is kind.
“If my sibling told me they named their child after my dog, I would be happy,” added another user. “It’s a sweet gesture, and then you have a little bit of the friend walking around your life. … Your sister makes a sweet and cordial gesture, here and at the end of the day the exercise is to name a child after a deceased dog not the strange thing you think it is.”
“But in the end it is her child and not yours,” they continued. “You said your paragraph, and that’s it. Your part of the child name process is clear. And you have to find a way to be okay with that.”
