The woman changed baby shower date, now wants sister to end vacation early to participate

A woman said her sister wants her to end her family holiday early so that she can participate in her baby shows – after changing the date for the event at the last minute.

In a post Reddits “Am A —–“ Forum, the woman explained that her sister had set a first date for Baby Shower, but it was moved up because another guest could not participate.

But the new date, wrote the woman, does not work for her, because she will be on a family holiday and she did not plan to return home until one day after the re -planned Baby Shower date.

According to the woman, she has “never” been “really close” with her family, including her sister. So when her siblings texted her in a group chat and asked if she could come home early to participate in Baby shows on the new date, the woman said she was confused.

“I don’t want to,” she wrote about participating in the event and added, “I am chronically ill and can not do much. I have been home for over six months, I can hardly do anything, and it also resulted in poor mental health. My partner works his butt and really deserve a proper holiday as well as my parents and my children.”

The woman also said to change the family’s holiday weeks before it will happen felt “unfair”, and it also pose a risk to her, as it would make her schedule even livelier and that she “cannot do a lot of things right after another because of (her) illness.”

And while the woman said she felt like “a joke,” she wrote that she would rather “come another time and get a gift and do something for them.”

When she asked if she was wrong to skip the baby shower, many other Reddit users assured the woman that she made the right decision.

“No way in hell I would cancel my holiday card for a baby shower – especially when the date changed to meet someone else !! It is honestly an unreasonable expectation,” replied a user.

“There is no reason in the world for you to make that victim for someone. You already have plans, serious plans involving several other people,” they added.

Another pointed out that the baby shower date was changed to accommodate someone else who felt unfair to the woman.

“(It is) astonishingly selfish by your sister to expect six people to cancel their holiday briefly for her shower,” commented a Redditor.

“Tell your sister that you just can’t arrange the holiday, because you will lose money,” someone else said.

After reading the comments, the woman published an update on the Reddit post and thanked other users for her answers.

“It’s a relief that you agree with me. I get really unsure of this because they are very good in debt and tripping me lol,” she wrote.

In the end, the woman said she was talking to her father and told him that she “didn’t plan to do it.” He, like her partner, agreed that she made the right call.
