The man saved engagement ring note that his girlfriend is put in his sandwich for suggestions

A woman did not slide so subtle engagement rings in her boyfriend’s sandwich. Unaware to her, he saved her note for their commitment a year later.

In August 2023, Taylor G. saw that “Marry Me” recipes grew in popularity. So she decided to put her own spin on the cooking trend, which refers to dishes that are so delicious that they are worth a proposal, by adding a post-it note with her engagement ring style in the tin foil of her boyfriend’s “marry me” sandwich.

“I did it as a joke!” Taylor tells People. “You know how you or your friends at lunch would sometimes find a note from their parent in their lunch box? I was fun and filled it in his bag one day … We love Italian cutter sandwiches and it was our first year that lived together so I really wanted to impress him with my meals.”

She specifically wanted a “Emerald Cut” diamond that was “no less than 1.75” carat. For her band it should be “solitaire” or “preferred (with) baguettes.” Having a “halo” or “Pavé” was absolute no-nos. She also reminded her boyfriend, Cam C., that her ring size is “5.5.”

Taylor, now 28, did not expect Cam, now 27, to take his joke seriously, especially because he never reacted to her special “Marry Me” sandwich. “We never talked about it!” She remembers. “He doesn’t have Tiktok, so had no idea that I even called it. Another day, another lunch to him.”

The couple – who started dating 2018 – was on vacation with friends at Cape Cod in Massachusetts. On their last night, the couple would pick up their friends for dinner, but Cam continued to make the wrong turns. Eventually he went to where a surprise proposal was set up.

“I was in shock, I had absolutely no idea!” Says Taylor. “He thought of everything, (I was) very impressed. I’m usually not lost for words, but I was speechless. I think I said,” Are you serious?! “Before you say: ‘Yes!’ I never thought he would keep post-it so when I saw the ring I was shocked that it was exactly what I was looking online. ”

After the proposal, one of the couple’s friends asked Cam how he chose exactly what Taylor wanted because they never went and went shopping together. “He pulled it (post-it note) from his wallet. I had no idea he was holding it,” says Taylor. “So for a year he kept it in his wallet.”

Taylor gets a lot of praise for her glittering stone, so she recently set the record straight on TikTok on who should actually be credited for the perfect ring. “He did so well 💍,” Taylor wrote in a caption on the screen of a video published on March 6. “Thank you this is a video of me who wrote exactly what I wanted on a post-it note two years ago and filled it in the sandwich I called” marry “sandwich.”

In the comment episode, some hopeful bride-to-bes said they would “steal this idea”, while other women shared the creative ways they led their boyfriends in the right engagement direction.

“Download Pinterest on his phone. Make a board with all the rings you want. They start getting targeted ads for said rings,” suggested a tictoker, while another wrote, “I sent my husband pictures of the rings I wanted every day until he suggested 🤭.”
