The bride refuses to try on a wedding dress bought by mom without her approval

A bride was given up upset when her mother bought her a wedding dress without consulting her.

The woman, 28, entered Reddit“Am I A ——” the forum that her mother went out on her own to buy her a wedding dress. She added that her parent did not even ask to shop together or ask about her dream look.

“She literally went out, bought a dress that she liked and then put it in my wardrobe without saying anything,” wrote the disappointed bride. “I found it only one day while I got something else-no conversation, no heads-up, just a dress hanging there.”

The woman explained that the purchased dress is not one that she would have chosen for herself. She described the dress as “big” and poofy.

Now the bride said that her mother is “upset” that she has not tried the wedding dress and has accused her of being “grateful.” Exacerbates the matter, her family pages with the matriarch. “The family says I would just try it to make her happy, but it feels like she made a big decision about my wedding without me,” she wrote.

“She let my two older sisters have her wedding dresses and she didn’t even care about asking me what I wanted,” the woman wrote about Faux Pas, before asked if she is wrong.

In an update of the post, the frustrated bride treated some problems she received from comments. The woman specified that she found the wedding dress in her childhood cabinet in her parents’ house and not in her own house. She also explained that she has no interest in learning how much the dress costs.

“I didn’t ask, and frankly I didn’t want to know,” wrote the bride. “The dress is not my style at all, and I would probably be frightened to find out how much was spent on something I had nothing to say in and don’t even like.” She added that the situation “not really not about the price tag.” Instead, she said that she is upset that “not included in such a personal decision and to feel that my preferences did not matter.”

The comment episode showered the bride with support. One accused his mother of “being controlling” and advised her to “hold” to her faith. “I would recommend abundantly thank your mom for the dress, but that you have always dreamed of trying on wedding dresses and picking” it “yourself,” they wrote.

Another commentator told them to just get rid of the dress. “Sell or donate the dress and go to have your wedding dress moment where you buy a dress you actually like and it is in your style,” the person wrote. “Tell Mom, and everyone else who has taken, that it is your wedding, and you have the right to choose your own dress, are not forced into a dress that is clearly not your style that you had zero says just because someone who does not get married and does not say you want. Refuses to discuss it further.”

A third suggested that the bride had a serious conversation with her parent. “A wedding dress is a personal choice, not something that someone can” pick up “for another person. Bought your grandmother your mother’s dress without her consent? Seems like you have to sit down your mother and have a conversation setting very good boundaries,” they wrote.
