Taraji P. Henson makes her Broadway debut, and she brings with her Cedric “entertainer” With her!

Henson, 54, will play Bertha Holly, the warm and welcoming matriarch in a Pittsburgh pension, opposite Cedric, 61, as her husband Seth.
The recycling will be directed by Emmy and the Golden Globe winner Debbie Allen, who will also receive an honorary Oscar at this year’s Governor’s Awards.

It marks the latest return to Wilson’s legendary work for the producer Brian Anthony Morelandwhose hit productions of The piano lesson (With the lead role Samuel L. Jackson and John David Washington) and Oops (with Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal) has helped to start a new era of star-clear, highly effective Broadway drama.

Sitting in 1911, it tells the story of Herald Loomis, a man who is haunted by the trauma of slavery and searches for his wife – and his self -esteem – after years in captivity. As he moves through Holly Home and society that protects, issues of identity, history and spiritual bill develop.
The revival marks a theatrical return home for Cedric, who previously appeared on Broadway in American buffalo 2008.
Henson, at the time, joins a growing list of Hollywood stars that make their Broadway debut as the theater industry continues a post-pandemic boom. Last season alone, George ClooneyThe Robert Downey, Jr.The Sarah Snookand Nicole Scherzinger were among the famous faces that broken the boards.
