Working at a Lice clinic was not a career that Cailin Hawn had ever imagined. Yet at 21, it has become a job that has offered invaluable experience and played a key role to help her achieve her long -term goals.
When she looks forward to graduation from Dental Hygiene School in May 2026, Hawn reflects on her time working at a family-owned Lice clinic.
Over the years, the job has not only allowed her to help patients and educate them about common misconceptions about lice, but it has also contributed to enables her to abolish debt free After five years of higher education.
“Although it was never something I thought I would do with my working life, I think so much and I honestly would not have it in any other way,” Hawn says exclusively.
Her role at the Lice Clinic means a wide range of tasks. She discovers and treats head lice by using a FDA-cleaned device such as dehydrates lice and eggs. She also sterilizes instruments, schedules meetings, sells products, collects payments and provides training for patients.
But her main focus? To facilitate the fear of those who come in, knowing that lice can be a stressful and sometimes embarrassing question.
“To save a mother from a panic attack after a long day, save a teenage girl from embarrassment in school, help families in need who have acted with lice for several years, which gives the peace of mind to the patients who have been told that they were crazy for the” inexplicable itching “… that is the joy of my job,” explains Hawn. “It’s easy to get over the idea of” bugs “when you see daily how much difference you make in people’s lives.”
Working at the Lice Clinic has not only helped her develop career skills, but it has also confirmed her desire to work in health care. Through her work, she has learned that her real passion lies in helping others regain their trust and peace of mind.
“I strive to help people get healthy and confident on the skin,” Hawn says. “Loose treatment and dental hygiene come hand in hand in that aspect.”
After working at and at the clinic for almost five years, she has seen almost everything.
“After years in the field there are really no more surprises! I have seen everything … every cure attempt, every myth, every crazy lice attack,” she reveals. “I’m sure you couldn’t imagine everything if you tried. The job keeps me on your toes safely, but I’m always ready for the challenge!”

Hawn strongly recommends the job, especially for those looking for a flexible and accommodating position. “It does not require schooling and certification to be provided at work,” she notes.
While working at a loose clinic may not be for everyone, she believes that if you can look past the stigma in connection with lice, it offers rewarding work and a sense of satisfaction.
A special challenge that she faces at the clinic is about the misconceptions that people have about lice. The most common misconception is that lice can fly or jump, which is not true.

Hawns Tiktoks – which often shows that she lets her hair down after a shift at the clinic – has received many concerned comments.
“Oh yes … the notorious hair!” She laughs. The first video she made her hair loosened referred to a “daily shed” trend that circulated Tiktok at that time.
“I actually turn my hair into the clinic when I’m not treating; it’s not” fake rage Bate “that many comments have assumed,” admits Hawn.
“I can also fully understand where people’s concerns come from,” she adds. “But the more you know about lice, the faster you would realize that this is not the way to contract head lice.”
Lice spreads only through direct contact with the head, but Hawn still takes precautions and slandered her clothes after treatments to ensure that she does not wear any home.
“I run the risk of suffering from lice when I use the machine in the chance that I am blowing an error on myself; therefore I cover my head during patient treatment,” she tells People. “In summary, the question of millions of dollars comes: letting my hair down in the clinic do not give me lice.”

While working at the Lice Clinic can be demanding, especially with the strict schedule for the dental hygiene school, she makes it work by taking up this weekend’s shift.
“Not working at all is not an option, but I am lucky enough to work with employers who are extremely accommodating for my school plan,” shares Hawn. “We are also working on conversations, so if there are no meetings that are still planned, I use that time to study until it is time to go to work.”
One of her primary goals throughout her education has been to free of charge. With the help of the Lice Clinic, she has been able to save money and avoid taking on exaggerated debts, all while pursuing her passions.
“Healthcare programs in all degrees are not cheap, so the LICE clinic has given me enough to avoid debt and achieve my goal to abolish debt-free after 5 years higher education,” says Hawn. “I have tried other jobs and I have had them sometimes, but no job has even come close to the salary received at the Lice clinic. Because I am always grateful.”
Her advice to other students aimed at taking debt -free is to work during summers and breaks, find a job you like, apply for scholarships and consider community college during the first years. “Sacrificing your time now makes you more freedom to enjoy your time after you graduate,” says Hawn.

Given the future, she plans to focus on her dental hygiene career after graduation, even though she is open to continue her work at Lice Clinic part -time.
“As strange as it may sound, I have really developed a passion for lice and what I can do for people as a loose techniques. Who knows, maybe I will even open my own Lice clinic one day?” She tells people.
From facilitating the anxiety of stressed patients to gaining invaluable experience in health care, her work at the Lice clinic has not only been an income source but also a running width towards a fulfilling future in health care.
