Student, 20, Missing in the Dominican Republic may have drowned: Report



A 20-year-old college student as disappeared after going on an early morning beach walk In the Dominican Republic, it may have drowned according to reports.

Konanki is believed to have drowned in the sea after being caught by a big wave when she and the other person took a dip, ABC News said.

The search for Konanki began during the early hours of Saturday, March 8, according to the Dominican civil defense. The authorities then resumed the search at 6 local time on Sunday, March 9 and hired drones and helicopters from the country’s armed forces, the agency stated in an update on Instagram along with pictures from the beach search.

LCSO said that after being notified of Konanki’s disappearance on Thursday evening, the agency immediately followed up with federal and state law enforcement officials as well as contacts in the Dominican Republic. India’s embassy in the country has “taken the lead” on the ground, says the agency.

A missing poster shared by someone who identified himself as a friend of Konanki’s parents read: “We need your help to get the word! If you are in the area or can help with the search, or if you have any information that can lead to her place of residence, please reach out. ”

“The more people who know, the better the chance that we can take her home safely,” the caption concluded.

The authorities continue to search for missing college student Sudiksha Konanki.

The university junior is 5 feet 3 inches long, has black hair and brown eyes and was last seen with a brown bikini, round earrings, an ankle and several bracelets, according to the missing poster.

Konanki’s friends who were with her about the time she disappeared have been questioned by the police, but has not been accused of anything, ABC News reported, citing officials.

The Dominican Republic’s National Police, the US Ministry of State, India’s Embassy in the United States and the Dominican Republic and LCSO did not answer immediately when contacted by people for further information.
