“Strong and safe” horse lift to safety after dangerous slip

An afternoon to get to know his new surroundings turned into an unforgettable nightmare.

On Tuesday, February 18 in San Juan Capistrano, California, a horse named Deuce and his owner, who had just moved to the area from Hawaii, slid into a steep embankment. While both Deuce and his owners were undamaged, Deuce could not go up and climb out of the brush -coated slope on their own.

“Our firefighters immediately put their primary plan in action and created a road up the slope to lead the horse out on foot,” said the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) in a Instagram Caption is reminiscent of the event. However, as the team described as “safe foot” and “strong and safe”, deam was not on board with the extraction plan.

Firefighters acted quickly and instead calmed Deuce with the help of a veterinarian on stage. When they were calm, Deuce was placed in a specialized harness and saved airy from the dike by a helicopter.

In a “smooth and stable” way, Deuce was carefully put nearby in the Shea Center, a specialized horse -assisted therapy and training facility. OCFA called it “a suitable destination, as the center regularly hosts horse training for our USA & r firefighters and prepares them for rescues just like this one.”

The caption continued, “Deuce was exhausted for quite a long time after the calm was struggling and had trouble standing up – with pressure mount to get him to his feet as soon as possible to survive – so our technical rescue firefighters delicately lifted him with a specialized rig system. ”

When he could become steady on his hooves, Deuce returned to his stable to be further evaluated by a veterinarian “and was loved by his owner.”

“Thanks to a real team effort,” Ocfa concluded. “Deuce recovers what the vet describes as” nothing but a miracle “and looks forward to riding on the tracks in Orange County again!”
