Silentó sentenced to 30 years in prison for killing his cousin

Atlanta-based artist Silentó has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the killing of his cousin 2021.

The 27 -year -old “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)” star, whose real name is Ricky Lamar Hawk, invoked guilty but mentally ill to voluntary murder, the Decalb County district lawyer Sherry Boston said in a statement Wednesday, June 11.

He also appealed guilty to aggravated abuse, possession of a firearm during a crime and hidden another’s death in connection with the death of his cousin, 34-year-old Frederick Rooks III.

According to the Decalb County Police Department, officers arrived at the scene around 3:37 on January 21, 2021 and found that raws suffer from several gunshot injuries at the intersection between Deep Shoals Circle and corners that crossed in the Panthersville area.

A relative told officers that Hawk and Rooks were last seen together after the rapper picked up Rooks from a friend’s home in a white BMW -SUV.

The same vehicle was caught on a neighbor’s home safety films and fled the area at high speeds of speed minutes after the other residents heard the shot.

Hawk admitted to shooting his cousin on February 1, 2021, after he was taken into custody.

After the arrest, his PR manager, Chanel Hudson, released a statement that asked for prayers for his client.

“Please send my client silent … some positive vibrations,” she said Per Fox 5 Atlanta. “In recent years, Ricky has suffered tremendously from a series of mental illness. We will continue in his treatment efforts, but we ask him and his family in immediate prayer and positive energy!”

Before Rook’s deadly shooting in January 2021, Hawk was arrested and accused of two bills of abuse with a deadly weapon after he was accused of attacks two people with a gap.

The incident in August 2020 occurred when prosecutors claimed that Silentó went into a home in the Los Angeles area for individuals he did not know when the rapper was looking for his girlfriend.

“I’ve fought demons all my life, all my life,” the artist said.

“Depression does not leave you when you become famous, it just adds more pressure,” continued Silentó. “And while everyone is looking at you, they judge you too.”

“I don’t know if I can really be happy, I don’t know if these demons will ever disappear.”
