A man in Illinois is behind bars after claiming shot his in -laws when she left a family wedding.
The Schaumbburg Police claims Roland Schmidt, 76, killed Christine Moyer, 45, “over divorced paperwork that was submitted against his son,” according to one press release From the Schaumbburg Police Department.
Schmidt is accused of murder on the first degree, according to Daily Herald.
At a hearing on Monday, July 28, prosecutors said Schmidt had planned the murder for a week and would commit suicide afterwards, Wgn9 reported.
“He executed her in the presence of his own family,” said Cook County Ellen Mandeltorg when he ordered him without bail, according to Daily Herald.
Per police press release responded to officials in a parking lot after a report on a shooting at 22:15 Friday 25 July. Officers discovered Moyer near the front entrance to a Marriott hotel with a gunshot wound on the head.

She was transported to lawyer Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where she later died, police say.
Schmidt was “muted on the ground by a citizen” and was handed over to the police, according to the press release.
Police found a firearm at the scene.
The police said Schmidt followed Moyer out of the building, approached her and then shot her in the head.
Schmidt is scheduled to reappear in the court on August 22 per ABC7.
