The acclaimed filmmaker, 71, opened to people about his daughter’s director’s talents at the 50th Afi Life Achievement Award: a Tribute to Francis Ford Coppola on Saturday, April 26 in Los Angeles.

“She works differently,” Ron said of Bryce, 44. Our emotions are the same in many ways. ”

He noted that he considers himself as “a partner and team leader”, but Bryce has “taken it to a completely different level.”

“She is so good at leading a group of people to find what is best for the story. She has her own taste, her own feelings, and I just love how she approached what she has done,” continued the proud father with her daughter. “She is strong, she has opinions. She is articulated. Bryce has gathered several directional credits over the past two decades after starting his career as an actress. Some of her latest directoring credits include sections of Boba Fett’s bookThe Mandalorian and Skeleton herdas well as Disney+ Pets documentary.

At the same time, Ron has helped several classics, such as 1989 Parenthood1995’s Apollo 13 and 2001’s A beautiful mind. The Oscar winner has also directed the latest editions, Solo: A Star Wars StoryThe Hillbilly Elegy and the star -studded drama Thirteen life.

AFI Life Achievement Award saw filmmakers Francis Ford Coppola Awarded the prestigious honor from the American Film Institute. Former Honorees includes Nicole KidmanThe Julie Andrews and Denzel Washington.

While talking to people, Ron also reflected on how Coppola has inspired him. “He’s really a Maverick in his heart and remains that person. It’s really remarkable,” the director said.

“It is the idea that the audience is actually hungry for something that is an expression of a filmmaker … I have tried to make movies, in any genre, I have tried to find that link between what I had to offer, what I felt, what really was in my heart and that story, and whether it is a family’s fantasyoma or a thriller. “I think several generations of filmmakers have been inspired in that way by Francis, put yourself in your films and really really get involved.”
