In October 2024, Deadline reported that Universal had landed the rights to her best -selling book Reminders of him. The novel-which was published in 2022 and sold over 6.5 million copies globally follows ex-conviction Kenna Rowan when she returns to her hometown after a five-year prison, determined to reconnect with her 4-year-old daughter and one man in town who has not written her.
“I’m proud to work with Universal to bring Kenna Rowan’s world to life,” Hoover told Deadline. “I hear from many readers who tell me that they found something of themselves in her story about living with and through tragedy and doing it often messy and imperfect work to heal and turn the page into a new chapter in life.”

Hoover wrote the script for Reminders of him with Lauren Levine, best known for producing the filming of Bridge to Terabithia. The duo will also produce the film through their company HeartBones Entertainment and highlight the company’s first project.
