Queen Mathilde of BelgiumTravel to Costa Rica started with a little horror.
Royal flew to Costa Rica on February 9 for a Solo-Tre-day visit organized through UNICEF. According to Aviation News X -Account @Fl360aeroA plan that travels from Amsterdam received “priority landing” at San José Juan Santamaria International Airport because of a cracked windshield and shared a photo of the damage. The aircraft made a safe landing at its intended destination about 15 minutes before the schedule.
Later, reporter Wim Deakschutter revealed that he was on that plane with Queen Mathilde. Although there were reports of the Queen’s emergency landing, Deakschutter said he was not aware of anything wrong until he saw the reports later.
“I was on that flight. As a passenger we did not notice anything, and we did not get any notification during the flight or at the landing,” he wrote on x.
Deakschutter said in a paragraph published by HLN“I was a little surprised when I read reports in the local media and on X about” emergency landing “.” He added that there was turbulence on the flight and the landing was “quite hard” but “nothing worrying.”
It is unclear whether Queen Mathilde, 52, was informed of the incident, but the royal was all smiles when she was photographed on arrival.

The outlet reported that while King Philippe always travels on a military plane for security reasons, his wife was able to take the more traditional route during his solo trip.
