Police find an abandoned newborn at a woman’s door with emotional remark



A newborn child was found outside a woman’s home in Canada this week, the authorities said.

Wednesday, April 9, a worried citizen called after discovering that the child was left on the veranda to a home in London, Ontario, the London Police said in a news message.

The child was taken to the hospital by paramedics and is currently said to have good health per police officer. The investigation of the case is ongoing.

In an update on Friday, April 11, the police said that the mother to the newborn had been found.

“We want to thank the public for their compassion and commitment to this situation. Thankfully, everyone is safe,” said detective inspector Sean Travis in a statement. “As the investigation progresses, we will be limited in what information can be provided to respect the integrity of everyone involved.”

Bria Vanier told London Free Press That she and her roommate were waiting for a food delivery when the police knocked on their door.

“They said they didn’t know how to pick up a child,” Vanier, 38, told the newspaper. “So I kept the child until the ambulance came here.”

The woman added that she felt “immediately attached” to the child and brought him into her to “warm him up.”

“He still had his birth after birth,” she said.

In another interview with CBCVanier said that the infant was wrapped in a flannel blanket and had been left with an emotional note.

“The note said, essentially,” give my child a good home. I can’t take care of him, ”she said.

“It said he was a home birth, that he did not like bright light and she wanted someone to take care of him,” Vanier continued.

She added the outlet that the note also said that the child was born a day earlier.

Vanier also expressed sympathy for the child’s birth mother to CBC and noted: “I think this was someone who had a lot of pain to give up their child. There was someone who was desperate.”
