An air passenger urges a colleague traveler for saving several lines with seats on a new flight.
After boarding its southwestern flight, the original poster (OP) noticed a woman sitting in the middle seat in line two, they remember in a March 6 Reddit post. While they originally had no problems with this, things took a turn when they went further down the hallway.
“(I) look over and a handbag is in the walking chair opposite her. No problems again. Look at line 3, handbag on the middle seat on each side. Um ok … line 4 Same thing! “They wrote.
OP decided to sit in the walking chair in a row four – one of the lines with a purse in it. The sitting saver was not a fan.

“Lady in (The) Middle Seat (OF) Row 2 says that all these lines are taken. I said, ‘No, they’re not. Sin! “They wrote. “I told her if you want to save 3 rows, walk towards the back of the plane.”
The woman did not appreciate that answer, which led to her responding with a “false laugh.”
Soon more passengers began aboard the plane. Newcomers asked about places in rows two and three were open. OP informed them that they were. These places began to fill when Seaver’s family started boarding.
“Her family began to sit in the remains of rows 2-3. She even let her children walk on the back, while the adults sat with her! “OP wrote.
They added their dissatisfaction: “A clear case of buying companies and trying to keep 3 lines for the whole family. I am usually not confronting, just want to go home. But this one was something. ”

Comments shared their complaints, with a writing: “Why H – Is it so important for people to sit together? We are all enclosed in the plane, so it’s not like anyone will be lost. Grow up.”
“I’m just curious about how she wore 5 wallets on the plane,” asked another.
According to Southwest’s current open site policy, there are no rules against seat saving. Instead, seats are available after a first come.
“Once on board you simply select all available seats and store your transport items in the seat or under the seat in front of you,” describes the airline on their Official website.
But Airlines were announced in 2024 that they would make the transition to assigned seating. During the second half of 2025, Southwest will start selling assigned places, although this new model will not take effect until 2026.

Southwest “has been known for its unique open seat model for more than 50 years, but preferences have been developed with more customers who take longer flights where a seating assignment is preferred,” the airline wrote in a press release When they announced the change in July 2024.
