Pedro Pascal is still in “active denial” about it “The Last of Us” twist

Pedro Pascal Still can’t really wrap your head around what just happened.

On Sunday, April 20, the episode of The last of us Season 2, Pascal’s character Joel took his last bow Like abby (Kaitlyn Dever) killed him in a violent revenge over his murder of his father, an unarmed doctor, in season 1, while Ellie (Bella Ramsey) saw.

The actor knew what his character’s fate was – the series is adapted from the hit video game of the same name and in The last of us part IIAbby killed Joel – but that doesn’t mean he’s processed it. In fact he is “in active denial,” he told Entertainment every week.

“I realize this more and more as I get older, I think I slip in denying that everything is over. I know that I am forever bound to so many members of the experience and just have to see them in different circumstances, but will never under the circumstances to play Joel on The last of us,“Pascal, 50, said.

He continued, “and no, I don’t spend much time thinking about it because it makes me sad.”

Pascal said there was “always an understanding that (the show) would remain believe in the source material in a specific way”, so his death was “just a matter of how and when.” Yet he said, “It’s not as they said,” Hello, we kill you at the beginning of season 2. “”

For the team behind the camera was the “hardest part” of Joel’s death scene “to watch Bella and watch it happen,” Co-Showrunner Craig Mazin said EW, Because of how “extremely close” the actors are in reality.

“They worked hand in the glove, they care deeply about each other. If you will pretend to be at that moment, it’s probably a simple thing, but it’s not pretending,” he said.

“I can just tell you from being in that room, it happens: the pain that (ellies) feeling there and then rage … It is not calculated or synthetic. It was difficult to feel that we broke something that we had all spent so much time very careful to build and do work.”

Ramsey, 21, told the outlet that they “have never cried to read a writing before, but I had such a gastral reaction to it.”

“It’s almost as if we’ve been playing that dynamic, me and Pedro, for a year, and it feels like dad-daughter in some way. I think my reaction to it was over was a pretty gradual feeling. Also, knowing that it would be the end of Pedro and the two of us working together in this capacity.”
