A Japan’s Airlines flight was forced to distribute oxygen masks to passengers on board after their Boeing 737 plan dropped at least 23,000 feet.

There were 191 passengers and crew aboard the plane when it suddenly experienced a mechanical issue in the air per associated press. The aircraft quickly reduced from about 36,000 feet to just under 10,500 feet within 10 minutes, about 18:53 local time.

Passengers feared that the plane would crash when oxygen masks were released in the midst of fear that the change in pressure levels could cause some people to lose consciousness, according to AP.
“I heard a muted boom, and the oxygen mask fell off in seconds. Stewardess cried and shouted to put on the oxygen mask and said the plane had an error,” a passenger told the news agency.
“Suddenly all oxygen masks opened as I slept,” said another.
A third terrified passenger recalled to be on “The Verge of Tears” when they wrote their will and imprisoned details about their insurance and bank card pins.
The scary moment that passengers were made to put on oxygen masks were caught on video. Panicked passengers can be seen in the pictures that hold on to their masks when the flight attendant announces.

A warning that indicates a deviation in the aircraft’s printing system triggered in the middle of the descent, reported AP, with reference to Japan’s Ministry for Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and other authorities. The aircraft was then diverted to the Kansai International Airport in Osaka, Japan, as the pilot explained an emergency to air traffic control.
No injuries were reported when the aircraft landed in Osaka about 20:50 local time.
They were offered on board 15,000 yen ($ 93) in transport compensation and provided one night with accommodation, the AP reported, with reference to passengers.
An investigation has been initiated to determine what caused the incident by AP.
Japan Airlines and Japan’s Ministry for Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism did not immediately respond to people’s request for comment on Tuesday, July 1.
