A popular nationwide frozen dessert company leads a serious recall after almost two dozen flavors of their ice cream and frozen yogurt were found to be contaminated with hard plastic.
According to one enforcement report Published by FDA, Wells Enterprises, which produces Well’s dairy products, released a voluntary recall of 22 flavors of frozen desserts in its portfolio. The FDA report states that the Iowa-based company began its revocation on April 25 and was classified in the organization’s system on Wednesday, May 14.
The FDA’s report further states that the type of revocation affecting Well’s dairy products is categorized as a Class II, which suggests “a situation where use or exposure to a violent product can cause temporary or medically reversible negative health consequences or where the probability of serious negative health consequences is remote” Official website.
In these types of situations, the FDA further describes that “recalls are measures taken by a company to remove a product from the market. Recall can be implemented on a company’s own initiative, through the FDA request or through FDA orders according to statutory authority.” With regard to the recall of Wells Enterprise’s products, the company voluntarily left the revocation according to the enforcement report.
People were enough for Wells Enterprises for comments, but they did not immediately answer.
The polluted desserts were distributed to 103 centers across the country, according to the report, with places for distribution including restaurants, cafeterias and food companies. All the affected product was sold in 3-gallon containers, the company said.

With regard to the specific products, a large change of Wells Enterprise’s various internal manufactured and affiliate partners were recalled, whereby the largest test was 5,280 baths of “Vanilla Frozen yogurt.” The products in question also show an expiry date from March to October 2026.

The FDA’s assessment also states that the investigation of the revocation is still ongoing, without any termination date stated from the time of publication.
