Revenue from weapons sales were then used to finance the right, anti -communist rebels, known as contras, in Nicaragua. The deal violated the US weapons embargo against Iran as well as the Boland change proposal, which limited support to Contras.

North testified before Congress in its military uniform and became a visible part of the scandal to many Americans. But it was the hall that became the outbreak star in the hearings. A part -time model and North’s then secretary, she testified under immunity and admitted to smuggle documents from her offices under her clothes and shred them to destroy evidence.

Rumors of North and Hall’s relationship also became part of the story at that time; However, North, who married Mrs. Betsy Stuart in 1967, dismissed them.

Hall stayed outside public life after the scandal. She was married to rock manager Danny Sugarman from 1993 until he died in 2005.

North’s wife, Betsy, died in November 2024. It was at her funeral that North and Hall reconnected, Reported Isikoff.

“She resumed the relationship at the funeral,” he quoted an anonymous friend who said. “They began to spend time together.”

The couple married in a “secret wedding” that did not participate in any of North’s four children with their late wife, according to reports.

Per cnn, North responded to a request for comment on the surprising relationship by quoting Clark Gable’s famous line from Away with the wind: “Honestly, my dear, I’m not fucking.”
