Ohio State Women’s basketball coach Kevin McGuff was arrested and accused of operating a vehicle while he was reduced last week, people have learned.

McGuff, 55, was accused of driving while he was reduced on Tuesday, May 6, according to court posts reviewed by People. The case was opened in the city of Dublin mayor of Ohio on Monday.

Responding officers found McGuff behind the wheel of his car, which was partly parked in his garden, the stores reported.

Officier said in the arrest report, according to NBC 4, that McGuff failed with several new car tests in the car, including one where he was asked to recite the alphabet from the letters “D” to “R” without singing. McGuff demanded officers to explain him the test three times and then failed to recite some letters except “D”, NBC 4 reported and quoted the arrest report.

The basketball coach was taken into custody around 20:22 local time on May 6 and released in his wife’s custody about an hour later, Dispatch reported.

McGuff will emerge in court for an administrative license suspension on Tuesday, May 13 at 13:30, according to information reviewed by People.

A spokesman for the Ohio State Athletic Department said that the university is aware of McGuff’s arrest and “in communication” with the coach.

“The department is in communication with coach McGuff and monitors the situation carefully,” spokesman told People. “This is an ongoing, personal legal issue, and the department will share additional information at the right time.”
