Martin’s father told the court’s linking 45-year-old judgment did not help him feel better about what had happened to his daughter. “There is nothing you can say here today or do that will make me feel better,” he said per wmbf news. “But we’re not here about making me happy. … you owe the people in South Carolina, you owe the citizens and taxpayers in Horry County, you owe them the knowledge that the legal system has your back. Right now, where I stand, it doesn’t feel that way. ”

Linkou himself told the court that he felt he would “fail.”

“(Martin) was the love of my life,” he said Per Wmbf News. “I swore to protect her and I failed.”

A judge sentenced a connection to 45 years in prison without the possibility of Parole. His guilty foundation allowed him to avoid going through a trial.
