The only Canadian aboard the Air India flight that killed everyone except one person has been identified.
Dr. Nirali Sureshkumar Patel, a 32-year-old dentist from Mississauga, Ontario, was among the 241 victims aboard the Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft. She is survived by her husband and their 1-year-old child, CTV newsThe National Post and CP 24 Reported Thursday 12 June.
The London -bound plan crashed In a residential area in India around 13:43 local time – just five minutes after taking off.
“It’s absolutely shocking. There are no words in this complaint,” community manager Don Patel, to CTV News Toronto on Thursday. Don, who knew Nirali’s family, said she had been in India for four or five days before returning to Etobicoke.

“She came back. And we heard that this tragic thing happened as soon as we wake up,” he said.
Her husband, who declined to share her name publicly, reportedly said: “It was my wife. I’m not in a state to speak right now,” according to the National Post.
He and the child are traveling to India.
“I talked to her brother very briefly this morning while we tried to help and arrange their travels,” Don said of Nirali’s family trying to come to India.
“We will try to give them strength, what way we can. Sometimes words may not help them, but moral support or just show (up) and being there with them gives them so much strength,” added family friend.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford shared their condolences on x.
“I am sorry to learn that a Canadian from Mississauga, Ontario was among the lost in the tragic Air India crash near Ahmedabad. On behalf of the people in Ontario, I expand my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones for every victim. We keep you in our thoughts during this difficult time.
There were 230 passengers and 12 herds aboard Boeing 787-8 aircraft.

“Passengers included 169 Indian citizens, 53 British citizens, 7 Portuguese citizens and 1 Canadian citizens,” The airline said on Thursday morning.
Everything on board was considered to have been killed; However, it was later reported that the only survivor from the crash was “a British citizen of Indian origin.” That person was identified by local reports as 40-year-old Vishwash Kumar Rameshwhich is currently hospitalized.
He and his brother, Ajay Kumar Ramesh, 45, were in India to visit the family and travel back to Britain together. Ajay is assumed to be dead.

Ramesh suffered “strokes” on the chest, eyes and feet, but was awake enough to describe the crash from the hospital.
“Thirty seconds after starting it was a loud noise and then the plane crashed,” he told Hindustan Times from his hospital bed. “Everything happened so fast.”
“When I got up there were bodies around me. I was scared. I got up and ran,” Ramesh continued. “There were pieces of the plane around me. Someone grabbed me and put me in an ambulance and brought me to the hospital.”
The cause of the crash remains during investigation.
