New teacher used alleged Snapchat to request explicit material from minors: police

A New York teacher has been accused and did not appeal guilty to 11 gender -related criminal charges, after claiming to have posed as a minor when asked minors for pornographic images, according to court posts obtained by humans.

Ryan McCaffery, 37, was Charged with Three Counts of Disseminating Indent Material To Minors in the First Degree, Three Counts of Attteempted Use of a Child in a Sexual Performance Who is under 17 years Old, Three Counts of Action In Acting In Action In Action In Action In Action For promoting a sexual performance by a child under 17 and another count of possession of sexual performance by a child, according to new york state police (nysp) News notice.

In January 2025, a search order was executed, and several of McCaffery’s electronic appliances were arrested from his residence in suspected connection to sexual online chat calls with youth victims during 13 years in 2022 in Bergen County, as he is alleged to communicate with a victim for 13 years, while “wrote” on Friday, February 14, on Friday, February 14, News notice.

McCaffery was then interviewed by NYSP Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) and Bergen County, NJ, Prosecutor’s Office. McCaffery, a former Riverhead High School Social Studies teacher and coach, resigned from the Riverhead Central School District on February 5 – just nine days before being arrested in Bergen County. Interim Superintendent Cheryl Pedisich said in a Monday May 12, statement that charges against McCaffery do not involve students from the Riverhead High School, Per Riverhead local.

Following his arrest in New Jersey, NYSP’s computer crime unit and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office completed several search options and moods. As a result, it was found that a stranger, who was later revealed to be McCaffery, “requested nude pictures and engaged in sexual acts while video chat with the victims on Snapchat,” according to NYSP.

In recent months, NYSP BCI continued to investigate him regarding December 2024 charges. On Monday, May 12, he surrendered to NYSP in Riverside, newly arrested, accused and transported to Suffolk County First District Court for arranging.

McCaffery is scheduled to show up in New Jersey Court on Thursday 15 May and Monday June 16 in Long Island, NY
