Mother and son graduated together over Mother’s Day weekend



A mother and her son spent their mother’s day weekend to graduate together.

Brandi Fields, 50, and Kyle Fields, 22, both went on stage when they received diploma from Texas Christian University on Friday 9 May.

“Sharing this moment with my son is something I never imagined,” Brandi told school. “We have supported each other through late nights and strict deadlines. Going on stage together, especially on Mother’s Day weekend, is an incredible and meaningful moment for our family.”

She graduated with her executive MBA. Kyle, which also has a basic education in communication studies from Bob Schieffer College of Communication, received his Master’s degree from TCU.

In an interview with CBS News TexasBrandi opened to share that special moment with his son.

“When we found out that postgraduate education was in the same ceremony, it was when it really met home that we would really do this together,” she told the news station.

“When she decided to come back to school, especially at TCU, I couldn’t be more excited,” Kyle said in a joint interview with her mother.

While the 22-year-old was in Fort Worth, Texas, first, Brandi later moved there with her husband and the couple’s younger son.

“I think more people on my friends were like,” Oh no, Kyle will kill you. First you move there, now you come to his school, “Brandi said as she laughed at the situation.

But Kyle said he never thought about it that way and was simply proud of his mother to achieve one of her goals.

“When I see her come home from work and she does her homework right away, I’m like,” I have to follow in her footsteps, “he said.

In front of the ceremony detailed brandi its plans to NBC DFW.

“He will go first, so I get all my feeling with him and then I can sit back and gather myself.”

“When she saw her being able to spend so much time after the cooking of dinner, working for a whole day, it was just a really great inspiration for me,” he said when his mother sat next to him.

She also shared what got her interested in going back.

“I like to learn, so I thought,“ At my age, what can I do? “It goes back to school,” Brandi said.

After many study sessions with each other, they each received a master’s degree.

For Kyle, to see his mother set goals and drive herself gave him something “to look up to.”
