Milliarda offers $ 1k to the fair. College academics for the second year in a row

Robert Hale Jr. Offered a moving gift to graduation seniors at Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts.

Hale, 58, an honorary recipient at the university, offered $ 1,000 to each degree in the class 2025 at the school’s starting ceremony on May 16, Per Boston.com.

“I have one thing to share,” Hale said after his Starting address.

Guards then arose from a nearby safety -flanked black SUV with duffel bags with cash. Each bag was full of individual envelopes containing $ 500 in cash, reports the outlet.

Hale explained that each degree would receive two envelopes. “One is for you,” Hale told the more than 1400 graduates seniors in a video of the degree. “The other is for someone in need.”

This is the second time of the billionaire that offers this financial gift to the degree college students. 2024 he assigned the same means to candidates at the University of Massachusetts on Dartmouth.

The founder and CEO of Granite Telecommunications added that his philanthropic efforts have so far been a highlight of his career.

“Concerns in our country have increased the need to take care of, share and compassion,” he said during the speech on May 16. “Our society needs your help, your leadership and your empathy more than ever.”

Students from Hancock and Angelo Elementary Schools in Brockton, Mass., Decorated the envelopes inside the duffel bags.

“One of the greatest joy in life has been the joy of giving,” Hale said. “We want to share that experience with you.”

Hale ended the address with a nod to the university’s mascot. “Every day is a fantastic day to be a bear.”

Hale has donated more than $ 400 million in support of cancer research, per BSU.

Hale’s net value is estimated at $ 5.8 billion per Forbes. He founded Granite, a telecommunications provider based in Quincy, Mass., 2002, less than six months after his former company filed for bankruptcy.

“Rob’s gift embodies the spirit of service and leadership that we strive to introduce our students,” said BSU President Fred Clark in a statement to The company. “His example inspires our candidates to lead with compassion and purpose.”
