Meghan has made it a tradition of celebrating International Women’s Day in some form every year.
2024 joined the Duke of Sussex to one SXSW panel Called “Breaking barriers, forming stories: how women lead on and off the screen.” During the panel discussion, Meghan shared that she wrote to the company Procter & Gamble when she was only 11 years old to deal with the fact that they only advertised detergent to women.
The year before, Meghan and members of her organization, ArchefundamentParticipated in a fundraising event in Los Angeles for Harvest Home, which helps to provide housing, mental well -being support and classes to expected mothers who have faced challenges such as home violence, substance use and homelessness.
The Archewell Foundation published photos from the event to its website, with the message: “Happy international women’s day to all of you! Whether you donate your time, means or helping a woman in your community, let’s all celebrate the women in our lives today and every day!”
The Archewell Foundation also joined Moms First and Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media to Fund a study If the representation of mothers in entertainment, as per Vanity.
“My previous experience as an actress, and now today as a producer and mother, has strengthened my belief in the critical importance of supporting women and mothers both behind the lens and in front of it,” Meghan said in a statement at that time, according to the outlet. “This report on the production of mothers in entertainment highlights the gaps we need to fill in order to achieve real representation in the content we create and consume, and I am honored to support this work through the Archewell Foundation.”
